New Book Published with Media Trauma Care

The Refuge Center for Counseling offers the community a resource to help people of all ages live with presence, connection, and intention in a digital world.

Get out of your screen. Come back to life.

We are excited about our new partnership with Media Trauma Care and Jenny Black, LMFT, to offer a new book, Inner Technology: How to be Human in a Digital World, and related small group experience this fall. Media Trauma Care’s goal is to bring awareness and provide resources to individuals and communities that desire to prevent or heal from harm related to personal media use.

“I became aware of the power my phone had over my life after a much-needed sabbatical,” says Jenny Black, LMFT, founder of Media Trauma Care and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. “I began looking for some new ways we could respond to the harms caused by the constant communication and disturbing exchanges and events on social media. The Inner Technology book is the first resource created by Media Trauma Care, and I am thrilled with the opportunity to partner with The Refuge Center for Counseling.”

Jenny will be leading an eight-week group at The Refuge Center in the upcoming new year, and she will also be one of the keynote speakers at The Refuge Center’s 2020 “Live Intentionally” Speaker Series on Friday, April 17, 2020, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Brentwood Baptist Church. All welcome at both events.
