Therapist
Emma is a Therapist on the Child and Teen Program at The Refuge Center for Counseling. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Belmont University and is currently provisionally licensed as an A-LPC-MHSP. She is also a member of the American Counseling Association.
Emma values walking alongside her clients through the highs and lows of life. Emma‘s clinical focus includes trauma, OCD, anxiety, as well as self-esteem/body image issues. She has experience seeing clients with ages across the lifespan but specializes in children and teens. She emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship within the process of counseling. Emma strives to create an environment for her clients where they feel safe, empowered, and are free to express themselves through play, words, and/or art. Emma understands that therapy is not one size fits all and therefore utilizes an eclectic approach, pulling from different therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, ACT, and directive/non-directive play therapy. Emma has received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Adlerian Play Therapy and Child Centered Play Therapy.
