Therapist

A Therapist here at Refuge, Sherry Merideth, A-LPC/MHSP, completed her internship at the Oasis Center in Nashville in Community Based Therapy and the Youth Respite Shelter and additionally spent time as a Post Masters Volunteer Fellow here at Refuge. Sherry received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Western States where she continues to pursue a doctoral degree in Sport and Performance Psychology. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance and Music Education from DePaul University and a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Belmont University. Sherry is a member of the American Counselors Association and the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselors Association.

Sherry has experience working with a variety of populations, specifically teens, young adults, families, men, couples, and high achievers and performers. She uses a collaborative approach which allows her clients to feel respected and empowered. She and her clients work together to identify patterns of what is and is not working, building tools that can lead to more authentic and satisfying lives. Sherry provides a secure base for clients that have trouble trusting others, acting authentically, and believing in their own value. Lastly, Sherry is marked by the dual principles that all people have inherent worth and dignity just as they are regardless of their abilities or symptoms and that there is meaning, freedom, and even joy in pursuing growth.
