Contract Therapist

Kayla Payne is a Contract Therapist at The Refuge Center and currently pursuing licensure as an LPC-MHSP. She has a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University and a dual Bachelors degree in Religion and Cross-Cultural Sociology from Carson-Newman University.

Kayla is passionate about how trauma impacts the brain, body, and mind. She especially is interested in the intersection of spirituality/religion and trauma/abuse. She has a desire to walk with women through issues of anxiety, depression, career/school stress, relationship issues, PTSD, sexual abuse, attachment wounds. She is trained in Brainspotting and Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy. Although she believes that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for healing, she utilizes an integrative approach of several modalities, including attachment theory, brainspotting, narrative therapy, and internal family systems.

Kayla cares deeply about providing a safe space for clients. All of you is welcome on her couch!”
