Therapist

Cheryl Minardi is a Therapist at The Refuge Center. A former Master’s Level Intern at Refuge, she received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Townsend Institute, Concordia University Irvine. She is a member of the American Counseling Association. Cheryl is trained in EMDR through The Personal Transformation Institute, and a trained spiritual director through The Theodyssey Institute. She has received Level 1 and Level 2 training in The Gottman Method Couples Therapy through the Gottman Institute. Her approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, strength-based, mindfulness, attachment theory, person centered, somatic practices and  spiritual integration and EMDR.

Cheryl believes that we heal and grow in safe relationship with others. She is eager to help clients connect to the deeper truth of who they are and identifying the stories that have shaped them. She is passionate about working with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, codependency, attachment issues, parenting, divorce adjustment,  abuse recovery, life transitions for women,  grief and loss, and spirituality/faith. Her approach is holistic, strength-based and person-centered using Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and a variety of other modalities and techniques.
