Markatá Echols, D.Min, LMFT, LPC-MHSP is therapist at The Refuge Center for Counseling. Dr. Echols received her Doctor of Ministry from Amridge University with a focus on Family Therapy. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She desires to provide aid to teens, young adults, couples, families, service members and veterans with a focus on areas including excessive worry, negative thoughts, depression, self-esteem/confidence, relationship issues, and PTSD. She has been trained in Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) Training, Preventing Suicide in Emergency Departments, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Suicide Prevention, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Neurofeedback.
Dr. Echols has a strong desire to reach a range of individuals and provide therapy services that will give them the tools to live healthy lives. Through her journey, she has come to understand the importance of helping individuals to develop the tools, strategies, and resources needed to reach their life goals. Dr. Echols believes in using a person-centered approach to aid individuals in achieving their physical, mental, and emotional wellness goals.
