Heather is a Contract Therapist at The Refuge Center. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and received an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University. She is currently pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor (LPC-MHSP).

With experience in both individual and group counseling across hospital, school, and clinical settings, Heather most recently had the opportunity to support children, parents, and families through diverse challenges in her former role as an intensive in-home therapist. At the heart of Heather’s therapeutic philosophy is the belief that creating a compassionate and accepting space is fundamental to facilitating positive change. Drawing from a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, Heather tailors evidence-based practices to align with your unique values and aspirations.

Heather’s is trained in Brainspotting Level 1, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Gottman Level 1, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), further enriching her ability to support clients on their path to healing and growth. Heather has a strong set of counseling skills to address anger, depression, anxiety, familial issues, trauma, and suicidality.
