Cassie Smith is a Master’s Level Intern studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands.  Before starting the professional counseling program at UC, Cassie graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Mathematics and Organizational Communications and a Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University in school counseling.  She is a member of American School Counselors Association, American Counseling Association, and Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.  Cassie has been serving in the public school system for over 20 years, with the majority of that being in the high school counseling setting.

Cassie is excited to work with individuals across the lifespan with a desire to focus on children, adolescents, young adults, and families.  She has lots of experience with teens and adolescents who struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and behavioral issues.  Using a person-centered approach, Cassie enjoys creating meaningful relationships with her clients to help them feel heard, understood, and respected.  She believes counseling is a place that helps clients heal as well as learn skills and knowledge to help them heal and become the best version of themselves.
