Tara is a Master’s level intern at The Refuge Center studying clinical mental health counseling at the University of the Cumberlands. Tara holds a bachelor’s degree in Individual and Family Studies from the University of Kentucky. She is seeking Tennessee licensure with a mental health service provider designation. Tara is a student representative for the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counseling Association and a member of the American Counseling Association.
Tara’s counseling passions include working with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, and those with physical limitations. Additionally, she holds a special place for the older population who experience depressive symptoms. Tara believes that each individual deserves honor and respect. Her goal is to provide a safe place for individuals to share their pain, struggles, and joys without judgement or condemnation. She looks forward to sitting with you in your story, as well as walking with you through your mountains and your valleys. While Tara works from a cognitive behavioral therapy approach, she understands that each individual is unique and deserving of a path forward that meets their individual needs.
