A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don’t function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick.” -Brene Brown

layered-heart-5February 14th rolls around each year and forces us to think about love. There is no escaping the commercialism of the holiday, with the red and pink cards, flowers, candy, and balloons that line the stores. And while it may be a “Hallmark Holiday,” or what some affectionately call, “Singles Awareness Day,” it can be a day to stop and reflect on love. Love shouldn’t be about celebrating one day a year, but rather what fills up our soul each and every day.

So ask yourself, what does love mean, look like and feel like?

Brene Brown says it best when she says we are all created for love. We want to love and be loved. We want to belong. But, when those needs aren’t met, we crumble and it hurts.
