connecting to your body

As we move through the chaos of life, we sometimes ignore the things our body needs. I caught myself just the other day needing a drink of water but telling myself that I would wait until after I finished this one last task and then I would go get water.

I paused.

If someone told me they were thirsty, I would tell them to go get something to drink. So why was I not doing the same thing when my body told me I was thirsty?

I have tried to pay attention to my physical needs in particular since then. I notice when I’m hungry, thirsty, and tired. However, how many times do we do this in other areas of our lives? How many times do we ignore our emotional or spiritual needs to get through the huge checklists in front of us? How many times do we ignore the hurts and pains in our lives and begin to move at a robotic pace?

There is a reason we have needs. Take time to listen to your body and see what it needs. Do you need more connection to others? Do you need a break to be alone? Do you need to fill your time with less stuff? Or maybe you need to be busier?

Take time to identify what you need, then if you need help establishing a plan, reach out to us at 615-591-5262.
