To blossom

“I want to blossom. I don’t want to stay closed anywhere, because where I am closed, I am lying.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke

1440x900_Blue_Sky_Flowers_HM015_350ADuring a recent self-care trip I was able to reflect, appreciate, and question many things. As I watched waves come crashing in, I realized that life is similar to the ebb and flow of the waves. I reflected on past choices, thoughts, and mentally prepared for the future. Had I done the ‘right’ thing, were there consequences, could I have done something differently…all questions that come with reflecting. I was then able to sit quietly and appreciate, as the tide came and went, that I was placed on this earth to do something special, to be someone unique…I was placed here to blossom and become ME.

Often times, we find ourselves closed off to our real, true self. We begin to conform to other’s expectations. Our true self begins to come and go, as the waves, never really staying the same for long, never giving an inside look of what the self truly consists of. We become what others want us to be and forget that we have a purpose to blossom into our unique selves. We lose sight of our purpose in life. We forget to understand ourselves and to know our own values before adopting someone else’s imposed values.

Maybe you find yourself conforming, maybe you notice your teenager struggling with self-identity, perhaps you are in a marriage and are wondering who you have become. There is no age limit on the action of blossoming! Here at The Refuge Center for Counseling, we encourage each of our client’s to embrace the stage of blossoming. We encourage and foster growth and healing. If you are ready to embrace blossoming into who you are meant to be, contact The Refuge Center. Counselors are waiting to embark on this journey with you.
