Sydney serves as a counselor on the Child and Teen team at The Refuge Center. She is working towards licensure as an LPC-MHSP and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ashford University and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in play therapy and expressive arts from Lipscomb University.
Sydney has extensive experience working in the mental health field. She founded and directs her own non-profit that works with children with different abilities and their families that utilizes equine, art, theatre, and music therapies and activities. She has experience as a Behavior Therapist for children on the spectrum, has worked at a psychiatric rehabilitation home for adults recovering from severe mental illness, and has volunteered her skills at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
She is passionate about working with individuals and families of all ages and needs who are dealing with life transitions, relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief and loss. Sydney incorporates multiple treatment modalities into her practice to enhance clients’ individual experiences, including connecting one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. She believes that every individual has the strength within themselves to overcome any life challenge and deserves a helping hand to encourage and support them along the way on their path to growth to self-discovery.
