Stellan is our therapy dog at The Refuge Center for Counseling. Stellan is a Scandinavian name that means “calm, peace, at rest,”- fitting for a therapy dog!

Stellan is a male F1B Mini Petite Goldendoodle and he is at The Refuge Center each day for Animal Assisted Therapy. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a goal-directed intervention in which an animal that meets specific criteria is an integral part of the treatment process. AAT is designed to promote improvement in human physical, social, emotional, and/or cognitive functioning. Stellan is in training for AAT.  His trainer is Stacy Paich with My Polite Pup. Stellan has a calendar and email address at The Refuge Center and therapist’s sign up to have him in sessions where clients are interested in having him present. Stellan can help clients feel joy and calm. Look him up on social media with #refugestellan. We look forward to you getting to know him when you visit The Refuge Center.
