An Iowa native, Samantha (Sam) Smith is a community-minded professional and graduated from Northwestern College of Iowa with a Bachelor’s of Social Work and a minor in Public Relations. Sam has worked in residential substance misuse treatment with adolescents in Iowa, and in Colorado, worked with individuals, seniors, and families experiencing homelessness in several settings, including emergency sheltering, permanent housing assistance and mentoring, and transitional housing.
Sam was first drawn to the Refuge Center while researching community-oriented services in the Nashville area prior to her move. She was particularly compelled by the values of hope, affordability and excellence – values that aligned with her own. Her core passion is being a part of empowering folks to work towards their own healing and recognize their unique strengths.
