Michaelia Savage (she/ her) is a Master’s Level Intern at The Refuge Center pursuing her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lipscomb University with a Specialization in Play Therapy. Michaelia earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Psychology from Belmont University where her interest in psychology courses and life experiences led her to a career in counseling.
Michaelia is passionate about walking alongside individuals who have experienced developmental or relational trauma, depression, and anxiety. She values collaboration in the therapeutic relationship and strives to create a safe space for clients to find healing in an
empathetic and non-judgmental setting. She believes that each individual has unique strengths and resiliencies that bring hope through difficult times in life. Michaelia is passionate about incorporating expressive art into the healing process with teens and adults.
Michaelia is a member of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society, Association for Play Therapy, and the American Counseling Association.
