Aaliyah Mathis, Ed. S

Aaliyah Mathis received her Specialist in Education degree in professional clinical mental health counseling from Middle Tennessee State University, and is currently working towards LPC-MHSP licensure. She also holds a B.S. in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Aaliyah believes everyone deserves grace, and unconditional positive regard regardless of their beliefs, religious affiliations, gender identity/gender expression, or race. She believes healing occurs when people feel safe, understood, and accepted and she strives to provide a healing atmosphere for those seeking help in midst of hardships or hopelessness. Aaliyah loves helping clients along their journey to self-acceptance, understanding, and self-compassion.

Aaliyah uses an integrative approach to counseling, including person-centered, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), expressive therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness tools and techniques. Aaliyah’s passion is working with those who find themselves struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, attachment, grief and loss, identity, historical trauma, and complex trauma.
