Steve Jobs, who died in October 2011, is quoted as saying: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
Sounds like the results of living this way would be wonderful. But mustering up the courage to look deeply within and ask “who am I?” can cause us anxiety as well as fear of conflict, fear of rejection, and fear of not being loved. Hiding away our true selves and showing only what we think is acceptable to others slowly suffocates our authenticity. The Refuge Center for Counseling offers a safe and compassionate place to explore the depths of our inner selves and move along the path to living in freedom. Call us today at 615.591.5262 and visit us at www.refugecenter.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
