Why We Raise Funds

 

Our Mission:

The Refuge Center for Counseling exists to offer affordable, professional counseling services in order to empower, educate and support individuals, couples and families in need.

The Refuge Center carries out this important mission by caring for anyone who is in need of our services, regardless of the client’s ability to pay or insurance status.  Community support helps us provide care in the following way:

Client Care

• It costs The Refuge Center $63 per session to provide services.  Approximately 91% of our client are unable to pay  this amount and request financial assistance. For each of the 5,000+ sessions we provide each year, we must raise $33  per session through donations in order to continue operating and providing the highest level of care.

Why give to The Refuge Center?

• Counseling can act as a preventative measure. Through counseling, many are able to receive help before a family dispute turns violent, before a teen feels there is no hope for their life, before a couple gives up on their marriage, or before someone turns to drugs to escape their pain. The list goes on.

•  While Williamson County is the wealthiest county in the State of Tennessee, this prosperity often overshadows the very real economic needs of those who are underprivileged and under-served in our area. Every individual deserves the opportunity to seek therapeutic resources regardless of their financial standings.

• The collective health of a community depends on the emotional health of each individual within that community. Unfortunately, many people do not pursue therapeutic resources, not for lack of desire to move towards health, but out of the belief that they cannot afford to do so. Our belief is that everyone deserves a chance to improve their relationships and their life regardless of the socioeconomic status.
