Achievable Resolutions

With the new year here, talks of New Year’s resolutions is inevitable. For me, this always feels like an overwhelming decision. While I start with the best of intentions for the great resolution I have created, it only seems to take a few weeks or maybe a month into the new year before I feel like I have failed at my resolution and give up.

Knowing this is the pattern I usually fall into, this year I have decided to make my resolution simpler and something that is actually realistic for my current lifestyle.

This holiday season, I encourage you to do the same. Try to think of something attainable that doesn’t feel too far out of reach.

The idea is for your resolution to feel manageable, not to add unnecessary stress.

For example, if you haven’t been exercising but want to get back to the gym, maybe make your resolution to work out two days a week instead of six days a week.

This way you will set yourself up for a greater chance of success. If you say you will work out six times and only end up going four, it might feel like a failure even though you did so much better than in the past. But if you set your goal for two days a week and work out more, every day after that will feel like an even greater accomplishment.

Resolutions don’t have to be about making drastic changes, instead, they can be about beginning healthier habits.

If the thought of what’s to come for you in the New Year feels like too much to handle on your own, please reach out to us at 615-591-5262.

Happy New Year!
